On Friday May 1st, 2020 PM Justin Trudeau bypassed Canada’s legislative Parliament to ban 1,500 ‘military style’ weapons. Not only are citizen sales now illegal; the aforementioned ‘buy back program’ is a work in progress that will be implemented. There has been a mention of grandfathering but with no details presented current owners do not know what to expect in the coming future.
Trudeau’s decision comes in response to the recent mass shooting that killed 22 in Novia Scotia.
Two statements by the Prime Minister have further upset conservatives.

“These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time”
Hunting sport is frequently brought into the gun-rights debate in North American politics. Gun rights activists state that ‘military style’ weapons have unnecessary power for hunting. While this may be true, the purpose of armed citizens is to defend against tyrants.
As progressive overreaching governments continue to strip citizens of rights tyrannical regimes are becoming more of a reality.
